Shelley Lazarus’ main goal as an artist is to bring a sense of movement and a sense of emotion to her paintings through the use of color. Lazarus' landscapes are done mostly on location where she can feel the power of the atmosphere around her and, through the use of color, composition and the movement of space, capture the subtle nuances that reflect in the light. These paintings are not the photo images of her models, landscapes or still life subjects but her interpretation of their inner souls.

For the last nine years, Shelley Lazarus has been teaching watercolor painting to adults at the Brentwood Art Center. Lazarus belongs to many art associations in the Los Angeles area, is a member of the Watercolor Honor Society from the Springfield Museum of Art, and is a founding member and past president of TAG - The Artists’ Gallery which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year.
